While in the original version of "The Sword of the Soul," Kyuzo and Nasami most definitely do NOT end up together, I wrote a story called "Close Enough to Hold," and gave the KyuNasa fans what they wanted. morgankit then gleefully did this picture.

I made a lot of jokes when I first saw this (most notably, "please tell me this is not about them comparing size..."). And according to morgankit, the heart-shape of their fingers was ENTIRELY unintentional... right.

morgankit originally thought this might work as an alternate for "As the World Falls Down". Personally, for me, this is MUCH more appropriate for "The Black and Awful Chaos of the Night."

This title refers to several things - Nasami's near-death experience, nearly losing the ability to walk, and the closeness between the two. I love the sadness on Nasami's face that morgankit just does so beautifully.

I asked morgankit why both Kambei and Nasami looked so sad. To my surprise, she said it was because she imagined that even though these two love each other... their hearts originally belonged to other people, and sometimes you just can't stop the memories.
